The 10 Most Terrifying Things About Robots That Vacuum And Mop
Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one go without the need to switch between devices. They can also help save storage space compared to having two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that can automatically empty their bin and refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads using a dedicated dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It’s among the easiest robots to set up that we’ve ever tested. Unpacking is easy, and the quick-start guide can get you running in no time. You’ll have a the complete dust bag, water tank, and hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a selection of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly application that lets you pick the type of cleaning you’d like to have for each room.
For example, you can opt for the robot to clean up the kitchen and living rooms but be careful with the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro’s front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are superb and the robot is capable of detecting small obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. Its only issue is that it tends to hit objects and walls at full speed. However an inspection of the cleaning history on the app will reveal exactly what the robot has completed, where it’s traveling, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.
The docking station comes with a handy LCD screen that displays when maintenance is needed for cleaning up debris and cleaning the dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the water tank by itself, using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop is able to run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can last 136 mins in standard mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. You can also view the full cleaning details in the app, which is clearly laid out and easily understood, though we would like to be able distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop clean, when examining a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company’s top robot vacuum and mop. Unlike last year’s model, this one features a double agitator in its mopping pad which greatly improves carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pull up small hairs and other particles that other robotic cleaners could overlook.
This Roborock model, just like the other two I tried is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they are a wall or another type of surface. It can then automatically change its path and clean around the objects without a pause.
It’s the most expensive robot I’ve ever tested, but it also has the most features. Its sleek, angular style is attractive and it has just three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens up to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin is auto-filling.
The only downside I’ve discovered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn’t removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it’s a challenge to take the mount off to wash it manually. I’ve noticed that any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and could cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of clever features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app lets you manage and set up these smart features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings, monitor battery life and component maintenance. You’ll have to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It’s a shame, considering the performance otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its clever design permits customized and efficient cleaning while saving you time.
The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner that can deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the top alternatives available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry mess. It comes with a mop that is top quality that cleans hard floors without using pads. The X40 is also extremely quiet while in use and only occasionally bursting during modes changes or self-maintenance.
The X40 also comes with an additional side brush that can be lifted and extended. This allows it to reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture with curved edges like chairs and table legs. It can also get under furniture with low profile, making it an excellent option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush also automatically lowers itself when it spots wet spots. This is a nice feature that helps the X40 avoid damaging floors with repeated back-andforth movements.
Contrary to other robots, which are limited to one task, the X40 can mop and vacuum simultaneously. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas or reverse the process. It can be controlled using the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is intuitive and easy to use and the X40’s intelligent features are simple to install. Users can program the X40 for cleaning at specific times. They can also adjust suction power, switch modes, look at floor plans and maps, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it’s done.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with many convenient features which make it a good choice for busy families. The docking station can automatically empty the dustbin and wash mop pads before refilling them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you before it overflows, thus reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive models available, but it packs in many extra features that distinguish it from. Smart DuoScrub, which is a new feature on its mops, uses two mop heads that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and smaller dirt particles – and also pick up spills and wet spots.
The mop is also cleaned and dried inside the base station after each use. This is a fantastic feature because it prevents the build-up of odours and mould in storage, and also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature that we haven’t seen before on other robot vacuum and mop models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.
There are many choices, including the possibility to schedule cleanings and change preferences. The app lets you set these preferences or you can make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and provides a number of options to customize your cleaning routine. It also comes with a number of features that aren’t offered on other robots, like the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction whenever it detects dust particles.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we’ve seen on the market, with a white and metallic design that looks elegant and classy. It’s a bit heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this listing however it’s not excessively heavy. It is solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach even 2mm below the baseboards.
